This, of course, is a view of our little stretch of the Pine River, and the white cedar curving upward from the hidden bank is our "monitor cedar." Over time, I came to photograph it regularly as a way to monitor the seasonal changes from flourishing plant life to snow and ice, as well as the constantly changing depth of the river. This photo I made on February 22. I'll add four others with their dates to help us see some of this year's widely varying conditions.
