The Second Day, The Second Bridge
And on the second day, David and I built the second bridge, thereby completing the easy access to the southern portion of our property. With the sling blade and ax we cleared the tall plants and a bit of alder from a slight rise on this end of the island, which will now be habitable. The next work that must be done is clearing the island for a table and chairs. I also have to devise ways to secure the bridge to the ground for the highest flood waters, but we're very pleased with the work we got done over the past two days and look forward to many days of enjoying our place from this new perspective.
David will drive home tomorrow and continue his recruitment into the Navy. And I expect that Shane will come up soon since bow season opens October 1. The new bridges will make his 4:30 a.m. trek to the tree stand much easier.
