We've been boring beyond belief today--Alison at her books and papers and I transcribing the field notebook--all of which will payoff someday, but it's good to have the trail camera to bring us the real news. Last year it was the porcupines that dominated the news; this year it's the gray foxes. I've said this before, but they are a truly beautiful canine. The illuminated eyes of the deer coming down the slope look like so many deer angels coming down from deer heaven for a good ol' earthy lick of salt. Next week will witness a reversal of this motion.
